I am an aspiring model/actor, what is my first step?
If you live in the Nairobi, the first step would be to summit photos, measurements, and contact info.

Does it cost a lot of money to be a model?
Models are considered self employed. When you begin a career as a new model it is as if you are opening your own business. Investments do have to be made such as obtaining marketing materials like comp-cards and/or headshots. Lowrys Online Models & Talents does not charge for representation nor are we a school.

Do I actually need a modeling agency?
Yes! You Do. Professional models should be represented by an experienced, reputed modeling agency. This is the age-old rule of modeling world. You are also going to follow this rule because modeling agencies help you to get assignments, provide you safe working environment, negotiate of your behalf and look after legalities of the paper work for your assignments. They are the best allies you can have on your side.

How does an agency function?
Agency keeps track of all the major casting happening in the industry and sends its models to most appropriate casting. Appropriate casting for a model is one where they fit-the-bill i.e. where the requirement is exactly of his/her looks, skills and abilities.

We start with meeting you and having a friendly discussion with you about the possible future as a model with us; we understand your needs and evaluate your abilities. We then short-list you for all the assignments which suit your needs and abilities. We inform you about those Castings/Auditions and give you all the details like the production company, the product (in case of a TV commercial), what kind of character is required, the exact location of casting/auditions, dress-code for auditions and timings for you to appear for the audition (remember, you need to turn up on time).

Why does Agency need you?
We earn 20% of total remuneration that a model gets for all the assignments you do through the agency.

Why does Agency need freshers?
Being fresher in this field means you are “Fresh”. With so many films being made, new products being launched and new satellite channels coming, there is an ever increasing demand for new and fresh looking talents. In our daily casting processes we are asked by our clients to search new faces for their products or films or serials. That is the reason why we need new people whom we can professionally represent as models/actors.

What guarantee do I have that I'll get work?
Before you pay any fees or sign any contracts ask a lot of questions. No fashion agency will guarantee work, even for mainstream models. The client decides whom they want, and the agency acts as the go between. The same is true for online and land based modeling agencies. Although they cannot guarantee work, they are often asked by the client to provide models for them. This gives these types of models more opportunities to obtain paying work.

What qualities do I need to be a model?
The Right Look!. The most important modelling quality is having the look that an agency can market. Each market from Nairobi to Paris has a certain look for fashion modelling.

Intelligence & Confidence. To succeed, a model must be an intelligent businessperson. They must know how to spend and invest money wisely. Also, they must know how to conduct business with agents, photographers and clients. Clients are looking for someone who is self-assured and whom they think can sell their product. A model must be able to sell themselves before they can sell a product. It is also important to be able to handle the rejection that every model must face. No model could meet the expectations of every possible client.

Independence. Because models must sometimes travel away from their friends and family for a job, or move to a big city to pursue a full time career, it is important to have a great deal of independence. Organization. A model must be organized in order to keep track of the different dates, times and locations of appointments so that they can show up at appointments and go-sees on time.

Stamina. A model is sometimes on their feet all day. So they must be healthy and in shape to be able to work all day and still look good. You must be close to the market where you can obtain assignments. With the exception of Glamour modelling, if you don't live within 2 hours of a mainstream market then you will not be able to find work.
